Google Makes New Shopping Search Features For Indian Users

The giant search engine entering e-commerce space in India for its users launched a shopping search features, inclusive of shopping homepage and tab that allows users to filter offers, review prices and find the products from multiple retailers before directing them to merchant websites.

The new shopping search features inclusive of “Shopping Homepage” is like e-commerce webpage for shoppers to search across multiple product categories, and browse them from thousands of retailers.

It has features like price drops and a collection of popular products. It will also be available as a Progressive Web App (PWA) for users with entry-level phones.

Also, the shopping search features inclusive of “Shopping Tab” in Google Search will allow users to post search queries in Hindi and English and show product lists, local store, inventory and review prices across multiple retailers.

The Style Search in Google Lens is an all-new visual approach to find products such as clothes, furniture, and home decoration, etc. by simply pointing the Lens app.

“More than 40 million Indians are coming online every year, and search is an integral part of their online journey. From desktop shoppers to users with entry-level smartphones, we hope this new shopping search features
will make
shopping experience easier for Indian users,”

said Surojit Chatterjee, Google “VP Product Management”.

He added that Google’s aim with the new shopping search features is to support the entire retail ecosystem, from shopping sites and large retailers to small local shops, and give them the tools, technology, and scale to thrive in today’s digital economy.

Google will direct users to merchant website to complete the transaction. It wont be involved in either payment or fulfillment of the product.

For retailers, Merchant Center is a place to upload store and product data for Shopping ads. Google also recently delete revolving memo about China censored search engine

Google on Thursday said it launched shopping search features to make the experience more personal and allow users to easily filter through offers, review prices from multiple retailers and find the products they are looking for.

The new experience is available via a “Shopping homepage and tab” in Google search and style search in Google Lens, an image recognition mobile app, Google said.

Google also announced the availability of the Merchant Centre in Hindi starting Thursday, besides English.

For retailers, Merchant Centre offers the place to upload store and product data for Shopping ads.

So far, the Merchant Center has been only available in English.

Retailers can now also use Merchant Centre to upload product details so they can appear across Google new shopping search features , without paying for ad campaigns, Google said.
